Train a Mischievous Cat

Buy a small toy water gun at a toy store.

Fill the water gun with water and keep it handy while you are preparing dinner and in other situations when you expect your cat to be naughty.

When your cat jumps up on the counter or engages in other misbehavior, aim the gun at her and squirt twice in rapid succession. Avoid spraying kitty in the face.

After your cat has been sprayed a few times over the course of a couple of weeks, she will begin to instinctively avoid the water gun. All you'll need to do is show her the gun, without pulling the trigger, and she will think twice about entering into whatever mischief she was contemplating.
