..:::How To Pet
Q:hello everyone my name is cheryl,
i am new to this site. my kitties are sick with respiratory illness. my cat i saved from going to the pound got pregnant right away. before i could take her to the vet. i had found homes for all 6 kitties, but when they reached 8 weeks no one wanted them anymore. i am trying to find homes for them. 1 i gave to my neighbor so i have 5 left.
well the mom cat snuck outside and we found her the next day. a few days later she started sneezing. now the babies are sneezing and has eye leakage.
could humans catch this virus? i have a son that gets very sick easy. my husband is not working right now only odd jobs, so i do not have the funds to take my kitties to the vet. and neither one is showing signs of illness.
my other 2 cats have been fixed and had shots. i feel bad about not being able to take them to the vet. my neighbors dog had come down with parvo and had been treated he is well now. the dog is a frequent visiter to my house he even has his own doggie treats here. the mother cat also has real soft cat poop, it's not normal or runny. any advise what to do??

A:Hi, Welcome to the site. This link seems to have some information I think you are looking for.
If you can get your cat's to the vet by begging, borrowing, selling, I suggest trying that. I say this because I was in the situation of literally not having enough funds for food or anything of value to sell, and I did still manage to get my two cats to the vet, no easy task. I no longer have pets because I can't afford to take care of them. Sometimes the humane society will help out with costs, or can sometimes put people in touch with organizations or individuals who can help. I've also heard of vets arranging payment plans. Please try, it's better than watching sick kitty's get sicker or even dying. It's a difficult situation, I wish you all the best for you and your kitties.:love:

A:I'm sorry but we cannot diagnose animals over the internet. Your cats need to see a vet asap.
A:Hi,
Sorry to hear that your cat and kittens are ill. I would recommend that you ensure your son washes his hands after handling the cat and kittens. This will help avoid contamination.
Your cats probably have a cold virus. My cat recently went to the vet and he had a chest infection. His symptoms sound similar to what you describe, minus the eye problems. My vet gave me a bottle of antibiotics for my cat, and they didn't cost very much money ($40). The vet didn't run tests or anything, so the whole thing was relatively inexpensive.
You may want to phone your vet up, describe the problem over the phone, and get a relative idea of the costs involved in an examination and treatment. That will help with a decision of whether you can afford to take them all to the vet.
Good luck!
