Train Your Dog to Use the Doggy Door
Repeat until you see success. Dogs are very intelligent animals; it will not take them very long to grasp the concept that the doggy door offers them infinite freedom.
..:::How To Pet
Q:Hi was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. One of my dogs Sonny (who's 12 and a lab cross) normally very robust and healthy has recently started drinking lots of water and becoming quite lethargic and slightly off his food (eating about half previous amount) Appreciate he's not the youngest dog on the block but thought I'd get a few ideas from you guys before I take him to the vet. Thanks in advance
A:Have your vet do a full blood panel work up including testing for Diabetes Melitus, Cushings, Addisons and any other number of liver, kidney and thyroid functions. Increased water intake and lethargy can be symptoms to any number of larger issues, but the bloodwork will be your best step in the right direction. He may need to be on a special diet depending on what they find, so if it comes to that, please stop by the dog food forum here for some great ideas on food - vet's rarely have a good working knowledge of food, unless it's for something specific like urinary crystals. Good luck and please keep us posted on how he fares at the vet, my folks' dog lived to be 17 years old, so 12 isn't that geriatric
A:I was going to say diabetes. Had a similar experience with my cat.
A:I agree. You need to take Sonny to the vet for a complete blood panel and urinalysis. Good luck and please post back with an update.
