How To Keep Dogs and Cats From Fighting
Keep the cat and dog in separate areas at first so that they can get used to the scent and sounds of each other. When you go from one pet’s area to another’s, let them sniff your hands and clothing.

Q:I noticed today that one of my cats will not close his right eye. There is no sign of infection, discharge or discomfort. He is not rubbing his paw over the eye and does not cry out if the area around the eye is probed.

I touched the feeler hairs above the eye and he doesn't respond by closing it?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sterling.
A:Hi azls1,

This is not normal at all. It could be a muscular impairment or a nerve impairment....or something else.

f this cat has lost its ability to blink, a vet must be consulted.

good luck

A:Thank you. We are going tomorrow.

He does not seem to be bothered by it at all and he doesn't mind too much when I touch the area.

Today will be the third day and nothing has changed so we are going to the vet tomorrow morning.:(
A:While I was in the vet's office, waiting, my cat was checkng out all the new smells. I noticed that his right nostril was also not moving. I brushed the hair on his right ear and it did not respond.

the vet said that he thinks that the motor nerve from his brain to the right side of the cats face is damaged in some way. He gave me a liquid steroid, which I cannot get the cat to swallow. and asked that I come back this Friday to check the progress.
