Q:Our 16 yr old spayed cat has taken to eating our dog's Iams. She has been acting strange for the past 6mos. Meowing late at night, waking up the kids and us. She eats her food also but goes for the dog food at different times. We would appreciate any advice.
A:You're smart for mentioning that your cat is spayed on this board Quick learner! I'm sure others will have more information than me, but one thing you should do is change to a better quality food for your dog -- for your dog's sake!
I'll leave the cat part of it to the cat people... But good luck!

A:A 16 yr old cat could be displaying signs of senility, and crying at night is often one of those signs. Sometimes they forget where they are, get confused and cry.
If she has been "acting strange" for 6 months, I would take her to the vet for a complete checkup.
Eating a little dogfood won't hurt her, but she must eat mostly cat food, as dog food is not nearly high enough in protein for cats.

A:My 4 year old spayed cat is also eating my puppies solid gold food. I even went and bought him some all natural good cat food and he hates it. He always has his nose in the dogs dish. He is still eating some cat food, but I hope the dog food won't hurt him.
