..:::How To Pet
Q:Hello, I was just after some advise. It's not for me it's for my best mate. She already has a ginger cat (Neutered) and she is just about to adopt a 14 week old Burmese/cross kitten. I was just worrying about the existing house cat. He has always been centre of attention and am just worried how the new kitten and the existing one will get on. I don't know much about Burmese cats so i don't know how they will respond to each other? Any advise will be much appreciated!!
A:Here are some excellent ideas:

The cat needs to feel the new one is a new part of the family and that he will still be the center of attention. Recently, I heard of a "new" method to introduce a new cat - it was a method used a friend. They allowed their cat to think she had found the new kitty and they supervised carefully while not intruding. The cta thought he was introducing the new one - a kitten - to the household and other than the uaul sib rivalry thatfollowed, there was little stres.
