How To Keep a Dog from Running Away
Prevent your dog’s escape by physical means such as heightening the fence so he can't jump over, closing up any space underneath the fence and making sure the gate is secure.

Identify what your dog has eaten and contact your vet, if possible, to find out if it's safe to induce vomiting. It's not safe to induce vomiting after swallowing a sharp object or certain harmful liquids.

Give your dog 2 tsp. of hydrogen peroxide. Preferably use a syringe instead of pouring it into the mouth. Gently lift your dog's lips and put the syringe in the side of the mouth and dispense the liquid that way.

Use 1 tsp. of salt if you don't have hydrogen peroxide. Pry open the dog's mouth and place the salt as far back on the tongue as possible.

Mix an activated charcoal tablet with 2 tsp. of water to induce vomiting. This is another alternative as it helps to prevent toxins from reaching the blood stream by absorbing and deactivating the poison.
