Calm a Dog to Apply Ear Drops

You have found out your dog has ear problems and needs drops. You have the drops from the vet. The problem is getting your dog to relax so that you can place them in the dog's ears. Start by holding your dog. Have your friend hold the drops, ready to place them in the dog's ears on your cue.

Pet your dog and talk calmly to him. Be soothing and gentle.

Slowly pet the dogs ear open as you continue to talk gently to your pet. Have your friend, someone the dog knows and is comfortable with, place the drops in the first ear. Then continue petting and talking to your dog as you massage the drops into the ear canal.

Move to the second ear, and repeat these steps.
