Dog wants to lick bare skin
Edit By:How To Pet
Q:My 8 year old Australian Sheperd wants to continuosly lick mine and my wifes bare legs or feet. Is this a diet deficiency? He also has started drooling when he sees someone eating.
A:I am glad he's not drooling when he sees your feet
I'm sorry, did not mean to make light of your problem.
Drooling at the dinnertable is probably not uncommon, but I'll let the dog owners answer that.
I just thought it was funny that he has a foot-fetish

A:If these are new behaviors, you might want to take your dog to the vet.
A:My dog likes doing that to. I've often thought maybe its the salty taste they like or its comforting to them. Don't know but never really worried about it that much. My girl drools when I'm preparing her food but as LavenderRott said if this is a new behavior for her maybe get her checked out. You'll feel better about it. And if it is something please let us know cause its probably fairly common in dogs.
A:I read somewhere (don't remember where) that licking brings comfort to dogs and cats as it reminds them of when they were nursing from their mothers. Seems as logical an explanation as any. I've never had a dog or cat that didn't lick.
