How To Keep Dogs and Cats From Fighting
Place your dog’s food bowl outside of the cat’s room so that the dog will associate the cat with something positive (Of course, make sure it's good food!)

Brush the dog to remove any mats or tangles. Once wet, these are much more difficult to remove.

Place the dog in a large bathtub or outdoor basin. A rubber mat on the bottom will keep your dog from sliding and make him feel more secure.

Wet the dog with lukewarm water using a hose, shower head or large cup. Soak him thoroughly to ensure the undercoat and hard to reach areas get clean, and take care to not get water in his eyes or ears.

Lather the dog using a suitable dog shampoo. Start with the main body of the dog and work your way to the tail, legs and paws working the suds into the fur. Be gentle around the face to keep the shampoo out of his eyes. If using a flea or medicated shampoo, follow the manufacturer’s directions closely.

Rinse your dog with clean water beginning with the head and face and moving to the rest of the body until all shampoo residue is removed.

Dry the dog with a towel to remove most of the moisture. He can then be left to air dry, or you can use a hair dryer on the lowest setting to dry him if needed. If the dog’s coat is long, use a brush to detangle the fur. Breeds with long or curly hair often need their coat to be dried completely.
