How To Keep Dogs and Cats From Fighting
Place your dog’s food bowl outside of the cat’s room so that the dog will associate the cat with something positive (Of course, make sure it's good food!)

Add supplements to your dog's diet. Some really good oils to add to your dog's food are olive oil, safflower oil and cod liver oil. I tend to rotate the oils. One week I'll add olive oil, the next I'll add a little safflower oil. When you add oil to your dog's food, you have to make sure that you don't add too much.
Take your dog to a professional groomer on a regular basis. A professional groomer can get rid of a lot of the fur that your dog sheds. Groomers have high velocity dryers that can blow a lot of the undercoat out. Many groomers now offer shedding programs that can really help.
Use a Furminator. Furminators are excellent grooming tools that can get your dog's undercoat. The Furminator is a number 40 grooming blade that can rake out the undercoat that a brush or comb would miss. It really does a great job reducing the amount of fur that your dog sheds, and I strongly recommend them.
