Reduce Pet Shedding
Edit By:How To Pet
Use an undercoat remover along with a brush designed for your pet's coat. Undercoat removers, which come in a variety of sizes, remove the downy undercoat that sheds when the weather warms.
Feed a quality pet food. Diets rich in nutrients will improve your pet's coat and its overall health.
Add a vitamin supplement like Linatone to your dog's food. Vitamin supplements improve coat and skin quality and will help to reduce shedding.
Moisten dry skin with an oatmeal bath. In the summer, bathe your dog once weekly or twice every month. In the winter, bathe as needed. Caution: overbathing in colder climates can cause dry skin.
Eliminate fleas and other skin irritants. A dog or cat that is constantly scratching from irritated skin will shed much more.
Visit your vet regularly. A poor coat may indicate a more serious problem. Regular check ups can spot problems before they worsen.
