How To Train Your Dog to Stop Barking
Consider what's making your dog bark. Does he need yard access? Is a cat taunting him through the window? Does he just like the sound of his bark?
..:::How To Pet
Speak in soothing tones to your cat and stroke the back of her neck. When the cat looks up and squints, you slightly squint your eyes. You have just told the cat you love her and the cat has reciprocated.
Purring
A purr is a sign of contentment most of the time. Combined with agitation tail lashing from side to side, it has an entirely different meaning. He is telling you he is upset. Reaching down toward him can be perceived as a threat. Bend down to his level and speak soothingly. A frightened cat should not be picked up to calm him. First calm him by speaking soothingly. Let him come to you when he is ready.
Meeting a New Kitty
Squat down and turn your side to the kitty. Hold out your fist at your side and avoid eye contact with the cat. The kitty will most likely rub your fist with her face. Do not face her. She will come to you. She sees your fist as the size of another cat's head and does not think of it as threatening.
